Summer Camping Newsletter
March 2010
At this week’s Pack
meeting(3-16-2010), we plan to take care of sign-up for the
summer camps. We discussed this a little at the Blue Gold
Banquet. Every family should also have received the
camping flyer from the Scout Office. Just to be sure we are
all on the same page I wanted to send this out to try to
answer any questions.
Signups will be for DAY
CAMP and BUCK RUN CAMP.
First, expense – since the pack had such a successful
popcorn sale in the fall we are in the position to help pay
for camp expenses. Each boy will have up to $ 100 depending
on which camps they choose to attend. There are also "Camperships"
available to help families that need additional help. Please
contact me if you need information for this.
DAY CAMP – this is again 3 days in June (16th-18th)
and is again at the Kingston Sportsman Club in Derry
Township. For those that didn’t attend last year there are
various supervised activities during the day including
fishing, BB gun shooting, Archery, Crafts and so forth.
There is usually supervised play areas for younger siblings.
Last year the cost was $35. We would like a $5 deposit for
each boy attending and the Pack will pay the balance up to
$50. Day Camp Packet

BUCK RUN CAMPS – this year for the first time all
overnight camping will be held at Buck Run Camp which is
just down the road from the BB gun range. These camps begin
on Friday evening and end various days through the following
week. The first $100 will be paid by Pack unless
boy also went to day camp then the balance of $100 left
after day camp is applied.
Cub Weekend Camp – (Friday – Sunday) this is intended to
be for 1st time overnighters and is set up
similar to last year’s Parent Son Weekends. Parent attends
with scout.
Cost - $150 total for parent & scout.
Wolf/Bear Camp – (Friday-Tuesday) this is intended
for next year’s Wolves & Bears. The boys attend with their
leaders.
Cost - $ 160 per Scout
Webelos Camp –
(Friday-Wednesday) this is for all next year’s Webelos. Boys
attend w/leaders. Cost - $ 200 per scout.
Boys
should be able to work on various requirements for each
badge. They will have access to all the activities that
there have been at past summer camps. However, the canoes
and rowboats will be available for use during the week.
We will be coordinating sign up after the Pack meeting.
Please try to have your plans made by then. We will collect
the $5 deposit for day camp and the balance owed for Buck
Run camps.
- The Committee is planning a trip to
Altoona Curve Scout night on Saturday, July 24. The
cost last year was $7 per ticket. Families are able to camp
overnight in the outfield after the game.
